Stearn Preliminary round 2 June 2014

More success for the Ladies!!

Monday 2 June saw another County match for the Ladies. This time it was the Stearn competition: Foursomes matchplay over 36 holes with handicap limits between 12-20.

For this preliminary round we were drawn to play at home against Southwold, who are increasingly familiar with our course as their ladies Cranworth team had played Halesworth here only 10 days previously!

Our first pair were evenly matched in handicaps against their Southwold opponents: skill and home advantage led to an excellent win for us on the 32nd hole of the day. Our second pair were challenged by much lower handicapped players and were beaten despite a brave rally after lunch.

Playing below their personal handicaps our third pair formed a very productive partnership and came in with a win on their 29th hole, leading to overall success 2 games to 1.

In the next round on Monday 7 July Cretingham again at home, play Bury St Edmunds.
