Cretingham Ladies Jubilee Shield Team Wins Away at Bury St Edmunds

The Hambro scoring for this fixture must have left a nail biting finish for those already in the clubhouse. Cretingham were 3 holes up over the first 3 matches with one match still to come in.

At 3 down with 2 to play in the last match we were told it was still “nip and tuck” but not what the scores were. The 17th hole went to Bury with a monster putt for par, 4 down and 1 to play. The 18th was played shot for shot to reach the green, we had one less putt to hole out, back to 3 down………ALL SQUARE for the team.

Playoff time! We chose Roz and Sue and Bury chose their last pair. Roz played the hole in textbook fashion and held her nerve over the par putt after Bury had failed to get theirs in. Victory!

A great effort from the whole team, one less hole from any of us and there would have been no playoff.

Thank you to Bury for making us feel so welcome, excellent scones too, and for being magnanimous at the end of the day.

Cretingham Masters in the sunshine - Saturday 7th April

The Cretingham Masters saw the course fully open and the entire field were drenched in sunshine, albeit a little chilly to begin with.

The course was playing wonderfully considering the winter and the improvements to both the greens and bunkers were there for all to see. This is testament to the hard work of the green staff and their attention to detail on the putting surfaces. The result was a number of scores in the high 30's and two better than that.

The results are as follows:

1st place - Matt Moody - 47 points!

2nd Place - George Austin - 42 points

3rd Place - Mark Brinkley - 38 points (CB)

4th Place - Ray Rudland - 38 Points (CB)

5th Place - Craig Garbutt - 38 Points (CB)

Captains Drive In (Sat 31st March) & Cretingham Masters (Sat 7th April)

REMINDER - The Cretingham Masters is this weekend (Sat 7th April). Please call the clubhouse or email r.pritchard@cretinghamgolf.co.uk to enter.

The captains drive in was played on the rearranged date of Saturday 31st March over two rounds of 9 holes. This was a fantastic success with 55 players in attendance and a number of supporters for both the prize giving and the delightful lunch of Pulled Pork served by James. Despite the forecast most managed the full round without any extra rain to dampen spirits!

The scoring on the day was outstanding considering the soft conditions with three team scores of 95 points all having to be decided with count back. Results and pictures below.

1st Place - B. Falcus, N. Hornsby, C. Garbett, D. Garbett

2nd Place - M. Brinkley, G. Baldwin, L. Rampling, D. Lamb

3rd Place - I. Grindlay, S. Read, A, Litherland, B. Taylor

Course Close but Clubhouse Fully Open - 02/04/18

Unfortunately the weather has forced us to make the decision of closing the course today. After the weather the last few days and the rain over night there are large areas with standing water. We will keep you informed on a daily basis and look forward to the sunshine.

The clubhouse however will be fully open from 8am until 5pm today and Matthew will look forward to seeing some faces.

We appreciate your support and patience.
